Oregano ( Origanum compactum) is a powerful anti-infectious agent and a well documented pro-biotic.  It is beneficial to the respiratory, intestines, nerves, blood and lymphatics.  It is a general tonic and immune stimulant. one of the most powerful antimicrobial essential oils.

Highly damaging to many types of viruses, oregano was shown in laboratory research conducted at Weber State University to have a 99 percent kill rate against in vitro colonies of S. pneumoniae , even when used in one percent concentration.  Excellent against many kinds of lung and throat infections.  Recent studies at Georgetown University Medical School in 2001 have taken oregano from the kitchen cabinet to the medicine cabinet.

Use V-6 Mixing Oil if applying elsewhere on the skin. Can be used neat in Raindrop Therapy. Add to food or water as a dietary supplement or flavoring.

An antibiotic (which roughly translated means “against life”) is capable of inhibiting the growth of a micro-organism or of destroying it.  Although many antibiotics are synthetic, most are natural substances.  The most commonly used type of antibiotic is a broad-spectrum, one which is non-selective.

“Oil of oregano's antiseptic powers are immense.  Nothing else in nature can match it, and pharmaceutical drugs are weaklings compared to it.  Single-handedly, it can kill and/or block the growth of virtually any fungus.  It destroys viruses and parasites.  Furthermore, it inhibits the growth of as well as destroys the majority of bacteria, something that prescription antibiotics often fail to accomplish.  According to the latest research (2001) it even destroys super-germs, that is the ones which are antibiotic-resistant.  Plus, there is no evidence of bacterial resistance, a property unheard of in today's pharmaceuticals.”

“Although man-made antibiotics are becoming ever more complex in an attempt to complete with organisms which can mutate (super bugs) and thereby initiate resistant colonies, they are not as complicated as most Essential Oil's.  Essential Oils have a hundred or more components, so it is arguable that an organism would find it more difficult to become resistant to them.

Grade A therapeutic Essential Oils are NOT just pleasant aromas. The use of an Essential Oil to enhance a prescribed synthetic antibiotic is acceptable and is already happening in England, France, Turkey and U.S. alternative health seekers.

“ In a world where pathogens are mutating faster than we can create synthetic medicines to kill them, Essential Oils might have a very beneficial role to play.  Perhaps they may turn out to be the antibiotic of the future. ” - Clinical Aromatherapy in Nursing , by Jane Buckle; (Page 119).
